Setting up Real Audio 8.0 to work with SpoonProxy

At the time of writing, the latest release of the RealAudio player was RealPlayer 8.0.  To get the latest update of RealPlayer visit http://www.real.com.  All versions of RealAudio work with SpoonProxy's RealAudio (PNA compliant) proxy. (Remember that RealAudio support expires after 30 days in unregistered versions of SpoonProxy.)

RealAudio has its own proxy protocol (thus the separate port for it in SpoonProxy).

The following screenshot shows example proxy settings for RealPlayer. The settins screen in RealPlayer is access by selecting View >> Preferences then clicking on the Proxy tab.

Note: In addition to configuring RealPlayer as shown above, you may get even better results by also configuring your network to use proxied DNS.

For detailed instructions on using all RealAudio products with SpoonProxy and information on using RealAudio with firewalls and proxies, please visit http://service.real.com/firewall/index.html

Related Information:

PNA is the original proxy protocol that RealAudio Player version 2.0 and later supported in addition to HTTP.

The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) (RFC 2326) is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Proposed Standard for control of streaming media on the Internet.

RTSP is not currently supported by SpoonProxy.
